NikNak Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Just spotted the 'pinned insurace deals' by Gteuk.... as my insurance is due up early Jan, i thought i'd do a quick trawl through some companies..... ended up at 'Confused.com' who came back with 29 quotes..! NikNak Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 Blimey crike...... Admiral came in at no 17 on the list of 29. Out of interest..... it would be interesting (well, it would be to me & Steve Davis...) to know what some of you others are being charged for insurance. I'm happy to kick of with mine..... big_kev Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 I see a lot of people mentioning that points on their licence is affecting their insurance. Mine is currently with Churchill ( who still think I live on the Isle of Wight rather than Nottinghamshire , better tell them some time )....anyway to get back to the point. I managed to accumulate some points on my licence and thought I had better tell them. The nice chap on the phone said as it was only 3 points for speeding it didn't make any difference to the premiums as almost everyone and his dog ( I did explain that my wife doesn't drive ) has been done, with the billion per cent increase in speed cameras. They only seemed interested in dangerous driving, drunken driving ( which I dont do...well not at the same time ) etc, not minor speeding offences. Personnaly I think if you haven't been done by a speed camera you must be one of these old guys that can't see out of the windsceen and crawls along at 20mph everywhere causing a nuisance to other drivers....ok my pet hate....just thought I would get this in. p.s. greg_68 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 The last time I renewed mine over the phone it was about 11pm and the bloke on the other end said I was the first person he had spoken to all day that didn't have any points on his license. That is one of the benefits of living in inner city Brum, you can't build up enough speed to set the camera off. Quote
raymac Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 I see by your "seen you coming mate" comment you think i have been taken for a mug  well after numerous searches andphone calls this was the best deal i could get, forgot to mention the missus creased the two front pass doors and that repair cost in the region of Quote
tiny Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 The majority of insurers will let you off with a single 3 point speeding conviction so long as its SP30 and you dont fall into a high risk group (17 year old, just passed test etc.) Quote
Another?Maybe! Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Has anyone had a claim with Tesco? Friend of mine's son's car was with them, his car was written off while parked...other driver ran into the back, shunted it into the car in front...although it was the other driver's fault the insurers did a knock-for-knock so Tesco dealt with him. Took them quite a while to pay out & in the meantime he was without wheels. Just a thought, sometimes the cheapest isn't the best when you claim. Having said that I am with Esure, cheapest for me at renewal time! Quote
